What is a Spandrel Panel Exactly?

Spandrel panels are pre-assembled, often produced in factories, their main use is as a separating wall in the roof area. This reduces the need for brickwork in party walls and can potentially help save on construction time.

These panels can be fastened safely to the party wall, and offer varying degrees of sound insulation, thermal insulation and fire stopping resistance properties, depending on the specification and coatings used.

Depending on requirement they can be designed and manufactured from a variety of different materials including aluminium, glass, stainless steel, however timber is the most common material.
